Original cast iron radiators at Leigh Court, Bristol

Christmas at Leigh Court, Bristol!

We delivered two beautifully restored cast iron radiators to Leigh Court a week ago. Sam Shinner, Estate and Operations manager at Leigh Court took us both on a tour of this magnificent Georgian building. The house  was used as a hospital at some point in it’s recent history,  the legacy of which are some cost-saving alterations – the most obvious perhaps being the installation of 1970’s style radiator panels which look incongruous amongst the many period features that have been paintstakingly maintained. Because it is now used as an events location, the rooms are largely open plan with little or no furniture on display, all of which means the radiators are on full view and because they are by necessity so large, they need to look as good as they can.

The picture of Alice below illustrates the size of the original cast iron radiators at Leigh Court. Antique cast iron radiators this size are like hen’s teeth these days, and David worked really hard to match them. If you’re looking for large cast iron radiators for your restoration project, please visit our website or drop us an email, because we’d love to help.

Our sincere thanks to Leigh Court for allowing us to use these pictures.
